The Cardigan
Welsh Corgi, unlike the Pembroke, possesses a tail and is the
older of the two corgi breeds. The Cardigan is a separate and
distinct breed from the Pembroke. The Cardigan originated in the
British Isles. The Cardigan first came to Cardiganshire (its
place of origin) with the Celts migrating to Wales in 1200 BC.
Cardigans are a herding breed and their purpose was to nip the
heels of the cattle and drive them before fences were used. The
Cardigan springs from the same lines as the dachshund.
We have been
raising and showing this wonderful breed for over 25 years and
have over 30 AKC champions under the Legacy prefix. Many others
have gone on to excel in herding, agility, tracking and
obedience. Our focus is in the conformation ring.
Whether you are looking for a
companion, show or performance dog, our Cardigans will not
disappoint you!
